The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Debuts, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will welcome back of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
